Mount Merrion Historical Society Talk: “The Bloodied Field” – Thursday December 10th

Greetings from Mount Merrion Historical Society.

It has been a tough year for all of us. Hopefully the run up to and beyond Christmas will be a little bit more relaxed and will allow us to bring a little sunshine into our lives.  Of course, like us our speakers were disappointed that our season of talks was put on ice.

The Bloodied Field by Michael FoleyOn Monday November 19th RTE showed a wonderful documentary called Bloody Sunday 1920.  It is still available for viewing on RTE Playback.  This documentary vividly captured the atmosphere that prevailed in Ireland at that particular time.  The production was narrated and based on the wonderful book written by Sunday Times Journalist Michael Foley called The Bloodied Field.

Michael was due to be our November speaker, on the same subject.  Now I am delighted to advise that you can see and hear Michael’s Talk live and in colour via your PC, Laptop, Pad, Phone or whatever social media you are happiest with.

Michael will deliver his Talk via ZOOM on THURSDAY DECEMBER 10th @8PM.  We are really very honoured and very grateful to him for giving of his time and commitment for the benefit of MMHS Members and Friends.

The Host will be FRANK COGAN and following the talk by Michael Foley Frank will conduct a short Q+A session.

The following are the details to access the Zoom call

Please do try out this format and if popular and successful we will hopefully try further talks in the New Year.  If this is to your liking please do communicate with us, otherwise we will be working in the dark.

In the meantime do stay safe.

Kind Regards

Des Smyth
