Over 130 residents from Mount Merrion and surrounding areas attended a meeting in the Community Centre on Wednesday evening to discuss plans to develop the site of Thornhill House. All local councillors and Josepha Madigan TD expressed strong opposition to the current plans for 47 residences, including 33 apartments in a four storey block. While residents are totally opposed to this plan they would not be averse to a development which would be more in keeping with the location and the site of an 18th century protected building. People who feel that this proposal is unsuitable for the area are strongly encouraged to make their views known to Dun Laoghaire Rathdown CC Planning department before 19th April.
