The Changing Face of Mount Merrion

Residents were horrified and very saddened to note that the beautiful stand of eleven 116-year-old healthy Yew trees (Arborist’s report) lining the rear of the stables across from the front of the Church and school, were felled and removed last week without warning.  We believe Lady Pembroke planted these beautiful trees in 1901 and as such, they represented a very important link with the Fitzwilliam/Pembroke Families who resided here for more than 300 years.  Yew trees at the Stables
