The Battle of the Somme ended 100 years ago on the 18th of November. One man who was in France at the time was John Willie Pattison, of Stockton-on-Tees. Older residents will remember his son Douglas, who with his wife Rose lived for many years on Thornhill Road.
Our webmaster, Rupert Dowling, has created a web project of J. W. Pattison’s diary from the front, publishing each entry daily on its 100th anniversary. The Diary runs until December 16th.
You can follow his progress each day at www.privatepattisonsdiary.com.
