Christmas message

Christmas message

The President and Committee of MMRA would like to take this opportunity to wish all the residents of Mount Merrion a very Happy and Peaceful Christmas.

Christmas is a time to enjoy the company of family and friends – often returned from overseas – and of neighbours. Mount Merrion is beautiful at Christmas time, from the lights decorating our gardens and houses to our glorious frosty Deerpark with its views over a twinkling city. The bars and restaurants are inviting and the churches are thronged. The children are off school, carols fill the air and the excitement is growing. Who would be anywhere but home?

Christmas is also a time to think about others and to reach out to those in the community who might be struggling. Please remember your neighbours who may be lonely through missing a loved one or through other circumstances. We particularly urge you to be conscious of elderly neighbours. It can be as simple as greeting or dropping in on someone – just make a tiny extra effort this Christmas. In doing this we acknowledge the core values of our culture and the rich community-driven spirit which has developed in Mount Merrion over the past eighty years.

We welcome those people who have recently chosen to come and live in Mount Merrion, and remember those who have left us this past year.

Christmas is an opportunity, also, to thank the many residents and local voluntary groups who give generously of their time and talents to make Mount Merrion such a happy, energetic and caring community.  Mount Merrion would not be such a great place to live without the combined efforts of so many.

To all we say thank you and Happy Christmas.
