MMRA has received a number of complaints about dog walkers who release their dogs off the leash in the Deerpark and let them run freely. There is a designated area in the park for this very purpose. The rest of the park is a restricted area and dogs must be kept on a leash. Recently two residents walking in the park with young children asked owners to rein in their dogs as the children were concerned. In both cases the owners, one a young man and the second, a middle aged woman refused to put the leash back on the dogs. This is a fineable offence.
Congratulations Dog Walkers: just when other areas are going legal regarding dog waste, we in Mount Merrion have improved significantly, apart from people who go to the trouble of picking up the waste only to throw the bag into someone else’s hedge. Recent reports of failure to remove waste have been received from North Avenue/Wilson Rd/Deerpark Road and The Rise Lower . Bag it please. Keep up the good work and use the big belly bins to deposit the waste.
