Earlier this year we entered into an agreement with DLR County Council to replace a total of 54 trees on the roads and paths in Mount Merrion. These were to be planted in spaces that had been vacated by dead or fallen trees. So far, 18 trees have been planted by the contractors, SAP. The only problem is that of watering the young trees especially in their first year in a new location. At the time we asked residents to adopt a tree for its first year. Many residents have been very supportive in looking after them, but as in all programmes there are a few notable exceptions and it is possible that some of these trees will die of thirst. It may not be too late.
