Recently a van owned by a local resident was subject to a unique but vicious attack by vandals or potential thieves. During the night they inserted a power driven saw at the jamb of the front doors on both sides and sawed through the electric cables from the engine to the doors. This immobilised the Alarm, the electric Mirrors and Windows and Locking devices. It was only discovered when the remote control failed to elicit a reaction. Presumably the perpetrators intended to steal the vehicle and were either disturbed or discovered before they could proceed. Whatever their motive it will cost serious money to have the damage repaired. Anyone with evidence is urged to report it to the Gardai at Blackrock.
