Daytrip to Cavan Museum & Tullynally Castle – June 9th, 2018

Mount Merrion Historical Society Summer 2018 Tour Details

It seems a bit ironic to be talking about the summer tour whilst half the country is still suffering withdrawal symptoms from The Beast from the East.  But this is a really nice day out to two very interesting destinations.

  • The Cavan Museum in the original Poor Clare’s Convent in Ballyjamesduff is getting excellent reviews for its originality and the quality of its presentations. I hear they do great Scones and Coffee/Tea (included in price).
  • Lord Longford’s family still live in Tullynally Castle. In fact RTE recently did their Lords and Ladles programme from there in the company of Thomas and Valerie Pakenham, Lord and Lady Longford. The ‘Cook’ has promised a lovely menu for anyone requiring lunch (not included in the price). A specially arranged tour of the house itself will be laid on for us and there will be time for a quick self- guided tour of the renowned Gardens.

All that between 9am—6pm and for less than 40 quid, sure where else will you get value like that?

See Mount Merrion Historical Society Summer 2018 Tour Details  for booking details, Brendan will take bookings at the Talk on the 22nd—if there are any places left.
