Deerpark and the woods are home to a large selection of Ireland’s native garden and woodland birds, as well as the occasional visiting seabird from the nearby coast. Cornell University’s massive bird database (ebird.org) lists 24 species in three surveys of the Deerpark.
Local resident Rupert Dowling has collated beautiful photographs and links on each bird and has added a few others that he has seen over the years.
Why not take this list with you next time for a game of Bird Bingo. Or keep it by the kitchen window and see how many of these birds visit your garden.
Birds of the Deerpark can be found under “History” menu and includes a link to download the Merlin app to help you identify the birds you meet.
